Dance Styles
Classes are scheduled by age and skill level. We offer hour long combo classes where students focus on tap, ballet, and jazz, as well as technique and stretching classes that focus on flexibility, leaps, jumps, and turns. We offer specialized styles such as lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop, acrobatics, musical theatre, and folk dancing.

Tap
Tap is an exciting rhythmic dance style that is truly American. As students progress, they study many different varieties of tap dancing such as Broadway-style tap, rhythm tap, improvisational tap, and many other tap techniques

Lyrical
Lyrical focuses on the emotional aspects of dance while combining the technical elements of ballet with the freedom, fluidity, and expressiveness of jazz, contemporary, and modern.

Jazz
Jazz dance combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. This style has its own vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms. Jazz dance can take on many different characteristics and styles, including Street Jazz, Percussive, Broadway, and dance team jazz, with an emphasis is on the importance of energy, rhythmical accuracy, and style.

Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre is a jazz-based class filled with Broadway style dancing and music, incorporating movements and musicality normally seen on stage during a show. This form of dance emphasizes learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and facial expressions.

Ballet
Ballet is the most widespread and predominant form of dance in the world. HSNWD focuses on technical training in the French style, while incorporating modern ballet techniques to create well-rounded, technically proficient dancers.

Hip-Hop
Hip-Hop is most recognizable in TV shows and in music videos. HSNWD offers a fusion of West Coast hip-hop and old-school street and break dancing. Hip-Hop is highly energetic and athletic so dancers can have fun and express themselves with age appropriate movement and music.
